Backlinks

This week, we learned about backlinks and how we can use social media and other internet sources such as blogs. Links are not only a great opportunity to get more customers to your site, but they are also necessary in order to be recognized and score high in search engines. When you have a lot of links bringing people to your site, it tells google and other search engines that people are not only interested enough in your site to visit it themselves, but they also are interested enough to want to share it with others. This is a powerful tool but it is not all that easy to get good, strong links. These links can be created through your own blog, through guest blogging, on different social media sites, and that is just the beginning.

Changes

Over the last few weeks, I have been making a lot of changes to my Google Ads campaign and it does not seem to have helped me numbers. In fact, my CTR has dropped. The one change that I see that seems positive is that my Cost Per Click has gone down about 17.2%. I have realized that it is my product and my website that is the problem. I created a business just because it was for an assignment and I wanted to see if it would work, but it did not work. I have come to understand why it is so important that you really believe in what you are doing and believe in the products that you are selling. I honestly have no interest in the jewelry that I was selling and really did not believe in it myself. It was just something easy to sell that I thought people might like. I did not even buy any of the products I was selling myself. I believe that if I am to succeed in business, I have to do it because I love what I am doing and I really want to make a difference.

Optimizing SEO

This week, we learned about how we can optimize the keywords on our website and use SEO to rise in the ranks on search engines. This was a completely new concept to me, so I had a lot of learning to do this week. We are judged according to our words, especially when those words are written. Our websites are judged by algorithms that take into account every word we put on the pages and hidden on our website. It is is important that we use the right words to make sure we optimize our performance. It does not matter how great your product is or how smoothly your website runs, if it does not come up in the search results when people search for your product, you are not going to get any business. Along with any ads you purchase, it is also important that you optimize your SEO to make sure you will rank high so more individuals will see your website and hopefully buy your product.

Ad Campaigns

This week, we learned more about our ad campaigns through Google Adwords and made some changes to make them more effective. I have been making changes to my keywords and hoping that this would help attract the right types of customers so that when someone clicks on my website, they actually want to buy something. I still have not received any orders which is frustrating because I have been working so hard and spending so much money on this business but getting nothing at all in return. I set up the eCommerce function in Google Analytics and this has been a little sad to look at. Right now, there are just a lot of 0's and this is a little discouraging. I am trying to figure out what changes I can make to my website that will make people want to buy my products rather than just clicking on the ad and then exiting. One thing I want to pay closer attention to is how long people are on my page and which pages they viewed. This could be helpful to knowing what people are interested in an...

Google Analytics

After creating a Google Analytics account and connecting it to my Google Ads account, I am excited to see how my ad campaigns are performing and what type of viewers I get to my website. Next week we will actually start running our ads which is nerve wracking because that means I will start getting some traffic to my website. I will be able to see how many people look at my website, what pages they look at, and for how long. I will also be able to track my sales and revenues. This is very exciting but it makes me think that I still have to make some corrections to my website and make sure that when people click on my ad, they will really want to buy my products. This is essential to creating successful ads that will turn a profit. Although this is nerve wracking, It is also exciting that I may soon be able to actually start earning back the money I have spent so far to start this business.

Creating the Perfect Ad

There are a lot of things that go in to creating the perfect ad for your business. One thing that is very important is to make every word count. You don't have very much space or attention span to deal with when someone looks at your ad, they're only going to see a few key words when they first look at you Ad, so you have to make sure they see what you want them to see. It is also important that you let them know what sets your product apart from the rest and why they should buy from you instead of anyone else. This can be difficult to do in so few words, but if you can do it effectively, you are much more likely to get more clicks that will actually result in purchases. The keywords you use are also essential. You want to make sure that the right people are clicking on your ad and that they will actually want to buy your products. That is why it is so important that you make your keywords detailed enough to get the right customers but not so detailed that hardly anyone wil...

Google AdWords

This week, we have been working on our Google AdWords campaign. It has been interesting to learn about how these campaigns work and what keywords might work best for my business. Since I am selling jewelry on my online store, the first keywords that I thought of were words like "necklace," "jewelry," "bracelet," etc... After studying more about keywords, I realized that if I used these key words, I would be spending a lot of money on ads that would not help me turn a profit. I had to make my keywords a lot more specific, like, "simple heart necklace," "simple silver bracelet," and things like that. With these kinds of keywords, I will get people clicking on my website that are actually interested in the products that I am selling without paying as much for the ads.  I am interested to see how well these keywords work out for me and what I may want to adjust in the future.
