Business Plans

This week, we focused on the importance of a business plan and how to make one. I made a business plan for my $100 project and I also made one for my Big Idea. I am not completely what it is I want to do after I graduate (or when my kids are older, and I have time to start a business), but for the purposes of this class I made a business plan for a future quilting business called Rags to Riches. I have been making rag quilts and I have really enjoyed it, so I could see myself making that into a good home-based business in the future. This was a real revelation because one of the things that I did was sit down and calculate how much money I could make by selling these quilts. I researched on Etsy how much these quilts were selling for and I saw that I could sell them for considerably less than the competition and still make good money on them. This made me feel like I could be rather successful in this business.
