Financial Planning
In our church we are asked to pay ten percent of our
income to the Lord. I loved a talk that we read this week by James E. Faust,
“Opening the Windows of Heaven.” He said that when we first start paying
tithing, it is a leap of faith, but as we pay it, our testimony will grow, and
it will be easy to know of the blessings that will come for paying. I think
this is important to remember if we ever do end up making lots of money, if we
start paying tithing now, we will gain a testimony of it before it gets harder
to pay.
This week, I also got to think about financial
planning for my $100 project. This was an interesting thing to think about
because we only have $20 total capital to start with. I know that this will be
a challenge to get things really going with my business plan, so I have been
thinking about ways that I can spend as little as possible on my raw materials.
Some of the things that I will need to do is weigh costs and see where I can
find the materials the cheapest, then I will have to try to find coupons to
help knock the price down even farther. I think this will be very helpful knowledge
when I am opening a business in the future.
