Leadership and Followthrough

This week when I was watching the videos required of us, one thing that stood out to me was something that Carly Fiorina said. She explained that one of the things that is necessary of a leader is having the capability to do something. This just makes total sense, but I had never thought about it before. I have been having a hard time working in the Primary Presidency of my ward because I feel like I am just incapable to doing the things that are asked of me. I don’t even know the kids’ or teachers’ names yet. I have been feeling inadequate and frustrated with myself. I finally realized while I was watching this video that I do not have the capability of being the leader of the Primary yet, and that’s okay because I am not the leader. I have the help of the President to learn the things that I need and someday I will have that capability. I need to be a life-long learner and will become better every day. Maybe I don’t have the skills necessary right now, but someday I know I could be a great leader.
I have had a few people who have wanted to buy quilts from me this week but I have not actually had any orders placed and no deals have closed. This has been frustrating because I cannot move on without getting some income to make more product and I feel stuck right now. This has made me realize the importance of being a good salesperson and also being able to follow through with customers. It does not matter how many people are interested and willing to buy from you if you never actually get paid.
