Failure
Failure
This week, we learned about the importance of failure
and how failure can lead to success. For one of our assignments, I researched
the life of Elvis Presley. He was obviously a great success, but he only became
so successful after having failed multiple times. His first failure was actually
in a music class which he took in High School. He literally failed the class.
He could have decided right then that he was not meant to have anything to do
with music, but he didn’t let that stop him. He went on to become very famous.
After his first time performing at the Grand Ole Opry, the manager told him
that he should just give up and go back to driving a truck because he wasn’t
going anywhere. Luckily, he didn’t listen to any of the critics and he soon
became the King of Rock.
I experienced a few failures as I did my $100 project
this semester. The biggest failure is that I only earned $45 instead of the goal
of $100. But I have found that because of this failure, I have realized that in
order to make this business worth my while, I have to charge quite a bit more
for my quilts. I also found that customers are generally willing to pay a
considerable amount more than I have been charging for the high-quality product
that I provide. This has been a great learning experience for me and I know I
will be basing future business decisions off of the things I have learned from
this project.
