Drop Shipping

I had always thought of running a business as coming up with a product, advertising, selling, and shipping said product. This week as we studies affiliate marketing and drop shipping business models, I realized that there are other much easier ways to start a business. Drop shipping has become one of the business ideas that I am very interested in trying. I have decided that there are so many things that I could sell online and I would not even have to deal with inventory or shipping. Any other ideas I had thought of would have been the direct method where I would hand-make a product then sell and ship it myself. Drop shipping seems like a great way to introduce myself to the life of an entrepreneur without as much risk. I have thought of a couple things I might like to sell through drop shipping... I was first interested in baby products because I liked the idea of making baby bow ties, so I google searched popular baby products right now and baby nail clippers and bibs were at the top of the list. I thought I may be able to sell these products through drop shipping and maybe eventually add my own bow ties to the same site. Then my website could serve dual purposes.

Never Give Up

One thing that stood out to me in the readings and videos this week is that we are not alone. We have the help of the Lord and His gospel to guide us along the way. One of the videos mentioned that there are going to be lots of people who don't believe in us and what we want to do. This is just like Nephi with his older brothers who thought he could not build a boat and he could not get the plates, but we know that we can do Anything with the help of the Lord. A lot of times, our goals may seem too big for our own good and we might feel that we just can't do any more, but we have to remember that we are not alone. The Lord will help us accomplish the things that we must to in this life. We just have to follow his guidance as we go through our lives. Weighing the Costs

This week has been helpful in understanding some of the things that are more difficult about becoming an entrepreneur. As I read Randy Haykin's case study, I came to understand a little more about some of the struggles that entrepreneurs have to go through, even when they are very successful. There are always risks and challenges that come our way when we are trying to do something new and different. Some of these struggles are going to involves the lives of others around us and not just ourselves. It seems that these are going to be the most difficult struggles of all. When it is just yourself who has to take the fall when things go wrong in your business, it does not seem as bad. When it is your own family and also the families of many individuals who work under you that have the risk of losing the jobs or not being successful, this seems like much more of a risk.
